Get the right size

Of course, when choosing a screen, the car you drive will make all the difference. It’s no good having a petite screen if you’re driving a minivan full of kids, and neither is it necessary to have a video wall in a compact. Small Screens - for the compact car (10.2”, 11.6”)

If you drive a city car, economy or compact family saloon, this is where you’ll want to shop. A screen in this range provides a focal point for entertainment without crowding the tighter cabin space. The screen will still be plenty big enough to provide a clear view for everyone, but will feel a lot more appropriate in the environment. The XTRONS CM118A is a good example here.

Medium Screens - for the family runaround (13.3”, 14”, 15.6”)

The mid-sized bracket perhaps gives you the largest array of options. Many of our screens fit perfectly into this category, as do many cars. This category would be the ideal choice for a family SUV or MPV, with the extra screen area giving a better view for everyone without overwhelming your interior. For this category, the CM140 would make an excellent choice.

Large Screens - for the vans and RVs (17.3”, 19.5”, 21.5”)

For the very largest private vehicles, you’re going to want something that’s big enough to handle the task. A small screen will disappear in this environment just as quickly as a large one would dominate a smaller car. Thankfully, our largest screens perform every bit as well as our smaller models, and pack in the same powerful suite of tech features. For the largest vehicles, the CM195 would be great.

What to look for in your aftermarket screen

When choosing your screen, there are a few simple features that will make all the difference. For one, connectivity is crucial. An HDMI input makes it easy to connect a hard drive or media device to your screen, making it an extension of your library or streaming service. Having robust Bluetooth connections gives you the ability to connect mobile devices and headphones with ease, giving your passengers more options and the driver more peace! USB connections tend to be standard on more modern units, which again makes it easy to connect everything up.

We’ve already discussed screen size, but what about the quality of the images?
